It is truly possible to have a stress-free wedding day! We promise!
1. Hire a Wedding Planner/Day-Of Coordinator
We love DIY couples, planning your wedding can be a blast and many couples do it all by themselves, up to the day of! You should enjoy your wedding, not worry about logistics and set-up! If you can hire someone to handle the details on the actual day, it will alleviate so much stress. If it's not in your budget to hire a full service planner, try to find one that at least offers day-of management, which will sometimes start 4-6 weeks before your actual wedding date.
2. Accept The Weather - You Cannot Change It
No, really, don't sweat the weather. You can't control it. Just make sure you prepare in advance, especially if your ceremony and/or reception is outdoors. If there is a possibility of inclement weather, you can ask your rental company to have a tent on reserve. If you know it'll be hot outside, rent some stand-up fans/misting fans and of course, if it's cold out, reserve heaters. Be prepared. Most weather apps/stations will give you a 10-15 day forecast.
3. Don't Over-Schedule Yourself
If you know you'll be wanting to get your hair dyed/cut, do it at the beginning of the week or the week prior, NOT the day of your wedding. Same goes with getting a manicure/pedicure. Get them done before your wedding day. Try your best not to do too much on the morning of your wedding. Stick to getting your hair and makeup done. Eat a healthy breakfast and relax before it's go time!
4. Wait Until the Reveal
It'll be tempting to check in on your reception space on the day of your wedding! Trust those you have enlisted to setup your space. You will only drive yourself crazy seeing an unfinished space. If you're decorating your space beforehand, check with the venue manager if it's a possibility to come in he day before to decorate.
5. Get Alone Time
This is a big deal! From the moment you say I Do, your wedding can seem like a whirlwind. Find time to spend with your new husband/wife, even if it is for just 5 - 10 minutes. An easy way to do this is to request a meal just for the two of you, even if you're just nibbling. Ask your caterer or planner if they can prepare a small plate for you before you enter the reception (unless you're having a seated dinner, then maybe just ask for some hors d’oeuvres and a celebratory drink). Then when it's time to get your celebration started, you don't have to worry about the fact that you're hungry!
Stay By Your Spouse
You just got married! Always be within arms reach of each other. Show off the fact that you are now one! Greet and mingle together, there will be plenty of opportunities in your future to mingle separately.
Keep in mind what is important. You cannot control every aspect of your wedding day. Understand that candles can get blown out by the wind, that accidents happen, that your ringbearer may have a complete meltdown moments before the ceremony. What truly matters is that you're marrying your best friend, not the fact that your monogrammed napkins have been placed on the wrong table.
