The Floral Cottage is a wedding and special event florist focusing on Southern Louisiana Weddings in the Baton Rouge, New Orleans and surrounding areas. We also design for special events including bridal showers, parties and corporate events.
How much of your business is related to wedding events?
Currently, nearly all of our business is related to wedding events.
How much on average would a bride and groom pay for the services of a florist at their weddings?
Typically, the average wedding ranges from $1000-2000. The price greatly depends on the number of people in the bridal party as well as ceremony and reception floral décor. For the bridal party (bride, bridesmaids, boutonnieres, corsages, flower girls, etc.) only, the price averages $1000.
Would you say flowers at weddings are becoming more or less popular?
I think flowers at weddings are becoming more popular as the current wedding style is evolving into a more nature inspired theme. Flowers always do the trick to achieve that romantic bohemian style our brides are loving!
What is the most popular flower brides seem to want in their wedding?
Brides love peonies! The peony is not readily available like a rose, but we try our best to recreate the bouquet style using other seasonally available flowers. Brides are also loving ranunculus, brunia berries and blush astilbe.
What are the current floral trends?
Blush! 2015 was the year of blush and it has continued to spill over into 2016. Look out for more of an earthy bouquet style in shades of wine, blush and greens to satisfy our bohemian brides of 2016.
Why do you love being a florist?
Being a florist allows us to express our creativity daily in our job. As a creative person, you are in constant search of the next project to fulfill your passion for creating art. There's no need to search for our artistic medium. We've found it in floral design. We are so passionate about flowers at The Floral Cottage that we wake up in the morning thinking about flowers, brainstorm ideas during the day and spend the night dreaming about our upcoming projects. We are blessed to have found our calling in floral design and we are even more blessed to work with family.
Official voting for the Top 5 Wedding Professionals in the Greater Baton Rouge area opened on September 1st! It's taken a little longer to tally who exactly is in the lead because we've had triple the amount of votes so far!! Awesome!
Remember, voting ends on December 31st, 2016, so there is still plenty of time to cast your votes! As of now, take a look at who is in the lead: (can't view the image, no problem, we have it listed below, too!)

Today we decided to feature not one, but two styled inspiration shoots!
One is light and airy: perfect for Spring or Summer. The second is filled with rich, warm colors that scream Autumn!
We hope you get inspired!
Yesterday was an absolutely amazing experience, I even had the help of my awesome 3 year old son!
With Halloween right around the corner, how could we pass up the opportunity to do a shoot at the Myrtles Plantation, I mean it is one of America's Most Haunted Homes!! So when Rachel Bourgeois, owner of Rachel Erin Photography said she wanted to do a Halloween shoot, we were all for it!
We did two separate tablescapes to appeal to a larger crowd. Our first setup is for our Bewitching Affair and our second setup is geared more toward a Fall Harvest Elegance that Blooming Flowers & Events styled. We hope you enjoy our Highlight video and get as inspired as we did!
Be on the lookout for more photos soon!
