Just mentioning the city of Venice conjures romantic mental images of a bridge arching over a canal, a gondola gliding by, and the moon reflecting off the water. It is the most romantic city on earth. Luxury hotels are clustered along the Grand Canal and around Piazza San Marco. For the newlyweds on a small budget but want big romance, Venice offers several economical options not far from the Piazza. The absence of automobile noise makes you feel like you are in an era filled with romance and simplicity.
